Questions
Is this designed for tap shoes?
Yes. The Tap Dance Practice Pad has a firm impact surface over a foam core, built to take the strike of a tap shoe repeatedly without breaking down. It gives you a clean, clear sound to work against rather than deadening everything.
What size is it?
120 x 92 cm (47 x 36 in), 7 mm thick. It rolls up to roughly 94 x 15 x 15 cm (37 x 6 x 6 in) and weighs 3.4 kg (7.6 lb), so it stores in a cupboard and travels in a car boot.
Will it move while I am dancing?
No. The underside is an anti-slip net backing that holds on wood, tile, laminate and concrete. It does not need taping down.
Can I use it in an apartment?
This is the most common reason people buy one. The foam core absorbs a lot of the impact that would otherwise travel through the floor to whoever is below you. It will not make you silent, but it makes home practice realistic in a way that dancing directly on a hard floor is not.
Will it protect my floor?
Yes. That is the other half of the job. The pad takes the damage from the taps instead of your floorboards, so you can practise on a surface you would otherwise have to protect.
Do you offer studio or school pricing?
Yes. We work directly with studios rather than through distributors. For orders of five units or more, email info@irishdancepro.com and we will come back to you with studio pricing and confirmed delivery dates. Studios use them as a practice surface in the studio, resell them to students, or give them as end-of-year and recital awards.
Where does it ship from and how long does it take?
Tap pads ship from our warehouse in Pennsylvania and are available in the United States and Canada. Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your address, and delivery is typically 5 to 10 days from dispatch with tracking. No customs or import charges apply within North America.
Current stock is on pre-order, with shipping beginning early September 2026.
What if something goes wrong with my order?
Email info@irishdancepro.com and you will be dealing with the person who makes the mats. We are a small operation and handle all support personally.
